The Republican Quagmire

The GOP and Republicans have forfeited their right to discuss the integrity of the 2024 US Presidential Election.

Why? Well, for several reasons.

First, because Republicans were unreceptive to the notion the 2016 Presidential Election had anomalies.

Anomalies in the form of Russian Interference, which, Republicans denied because it would make "Russian Collusion" with The Trump Administration appear as less of a rumor and more of a reality.

This doesn't even take into account any possibility of widespread misinformation/disinformation across social media platforms in preparation for the 2020 election, or addressing election security, something Republicans blocked efforts for just a few months before the elections were to take place.

Second, the same people who are vocally opposed to "Fake News" are the same people who can't provide legitimate proof of voter fraud to back up their own claims.

As of now, there has been no proof of voter fraud in this Presidential Election.

Not to mention, this comes across as a strange stance for Republicans to take when they are the party who has, in fact, been found of committing voter fraud, on more than one occasion, in the past few years.

Third, because Republicans have suddenly decided they now want to discuss how The Electoral College affects the final outcome, when their candidate lost by 5 million popular votes.

When Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton lost the Electoral College in 2016, an election where she won the popular vote, the response was "Get over it." and "Cry more Libs!". Pure political partisanship theater, which contributed to the growing political rift in the US.

It's important to know, The Electoral College is not a government institution the Republican Party has taken issue with over the past 20 years worth of elections.

Besides, debating over the importance or necessity of The Electoral College, a conversation Republicans couldn't seem to find a way to the table to discuss until now, is not the same as questioning a range of many different aspects of voting, located somewhere along the spectrum of legality in US Elections.

- Democrats in 2016, "Hillary lost The Presidency, but won the popular vote? How did this happen?"

- Republicans in 2020, "Biden stole the Election. They're all just as crooked as Hillary."

Notice the difference?

It's incredible to discover Republican political ideology can somehow be defined as, Democrats positively affected the overall popular vote in 2016, yet still lost, and then somehow negatively affected Trump's popular vote to secure a win for Biden in 2020.

The largest part concerning Republicans about the validity of ballot counts is directed at absentee/mail-in ballots, but then it serves well to remember who started questioning their validity.

Fourth, a majority of the extra time spent from one state to another to count (and recount) ballots, was a direct result of The Trump Administration's lawsuits and/or influence.

The Trump Administration questioned the validity of absentee ballots in Pennsylvania, which, required two separate, yet identical directives to be given to the State of Pennsylvania from The US Supreme Court.

Adding even more time needed to conduct the election, Trump supporters showed up in two different ballot counting locations, representing both sides of their own personally minted coin. One group of Trump supporters in Michigan chanting, "Stop the steal/Stop the count", while another group in Arizona chanted, "Count the vote".

The conduct of Trump supporters even put ballot counting officials, in a dangerously engineered gun laden duress.

On top of the additional duress to ballot counters, Trump and other Republicans made claims ballot count observers were not even allowed inside counting locations, while others were questioning if the distance ballot counting observers were kept away from ballot counting procedures were fair.

Ballot count observers were allowed and the distance was applied due to Coronavirus concerns.

Who should The Republican Party blame for increasing cautions with social distancing protocols during a Presidential Election? President Trump himself.

It took until Saturday night, four days after Election Day for ballots to be counted to a degree where a projected winner could be announced to the American people.

The Republican Party, for their creation of Trumpism, the constant feeding of Trump's enablers and all their supporters, they have now ended their efforts in the fact they have stained democracy in the US and cast severe doubts on the integrity of the voting and electoral process Americans participate in during all US Elections.

This stain, I believe should remain for the 2024 elections, if only to serve them as a reminder of their past offenses.
